La Feria de Abril – the April fiesta – opens at midnight tonight (April 7th) with a grand parade and continues until next Sunday (13th). It began as a cattle-trading fair in 1847 but has evolved through the years into a round-the-clock spectacle of flamenco, bullfighting, eating and drinking.
Seville, the capital of the Andalusia region, welcomes about a million visitors to the fiesta every year.
