The outlying islands provide a pleasant family day out. Take a ferry to Cheung Chau or Lamma Island and set your own pace. The restaurants – with live fish and seafood displayed outside – are relaxed and family-friendly. Enjoy a stroll on the beach, hike over the hills or hire bikes and explore the traffic-free islands. They’re less than an hour away from the downtown by ferry.
It is also possible to travel to mainland China. Visas are required for most nationalities to do this. Visitors can book tours to neighbouring mainland cities through hotel tour desks or concierges in Hong Kong. Tours booked this way will include a group visa.
