Air
Reykjavik has two airports, the main Keflavík International Airport www.keflavikairport.com located approximately 30 miles (50 km) southwest of the city, and the smaller Reykjavik Domestic Airport. Only a handful of airlines fly directly into Reykjavik, with the main one being Icelandair. Direct flights from Europe are available from London, Paris, Glasgow, Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Frankfurt, while North America has direct flights from New York, Boston, Washington DC, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Orlando and Halifax. Direct flight times from New York are 5 hours 45 minutes, from Boston – 5 hours, and from London – 3 hours. Meeting all incoming flights is the Flybus operated by Reykjavik Excursions (www.re.is), a coach bus service that takes passengers to the main hotels in the centre of town in under an hour and for ISK -1200 (approx. $20). Alternatively, a rather expensive option is to take a metered taxi into town where you should be prepared to pay approximately ISK 8000. Avis, Budget, Hertz and Europcar all have car hire facilities in the arrivals hall at the airport.
Sea
Iceland can also be reached by ferry from Denmark, Norway, the Faroe and Shetland Islands. However, departure days are limited and journey times could be over 14 hours.
