of short winter days and long, light summer nights. It’s also a city for fashion, art and design – yes, Swedish design is not just that IKEA bookcase that arrives cunningly packed into a shoebox! And, pardon the pun, Stockholm is cool: Newsweek recently labelled it ‘Europe’s Internet Capital.’ The old town, Gamla Stan, is a compact little maze of cobblestone streets apparently built for small thin people with sturdy ankles.
