Detailed Review

The authentic character of this 15th century noble residence is strengthened by its marvelous interior. The location, next to Bruges most beautiful canal "Den Dijver", plunges you into the magic atmosphere of the historical city of Bruges.

When establishing the Hotel de Tuilerieen, we retained the dignity and history of an elegant 15th-century mansion, creating interiors that are welcoming, luxurious and comfortable – the necessary atmosphere for a sense of joie de vivre. You will immediately feel at home in Hotel de Tuilerieen.

Its exquisite location alongside one of the most picturesque canals will immediately immerse you into the enchanting atmosphere of the Old City. Rooms at the front of the hotel benefit from an attractive view over the Den Dijver canal and a former convent. The owners and their staff look forward to helping you experience Flemish hospitality and art at its best.

Independent Reviews

    Hotel de Tuilerieen
    By Gemma Pitcher

Hotel de Tuilerieen is a patrician residence, dating originally from the 15th century, which overlooks Den Dyver, one of the grandest canals in Bruges. Inside the décor is confidently subtle – the dining room is done in delicate hues of grey, with a black and white marble floor and romantic trompe l’oeuil paintings on the walls. There’s a snug wooden bar with chesterfields, dried flowers, an open fireplace and Flemish paintings on the walls, looking out through tall narrow windows of original Venetian glass to the canal beyond. The 45 bedrooms vary widely in shape, size and colour scheme, but all display the same sure aesthetic touch – the work of Anglophile interior designer Pieter Porters – and all, including the cheapest, are very spacious. Rooms overlooking the canal in the ‘old wing’ are stunning - light and airy, with dove grey and pale yellow colour schemes and stripped wooden floors. Rooms and suites in the ‘new wing’ (formerly a bank) have wooden panelling and rich red walls, some with four posters or private terraces. Bathrooms are enormous, marble and palatial. The lovely Edwardian-style indoor pool and jacuzzi, housed in a beautifully lit glass-sided pavilion, steam and shimmer seductively 24 hours a day.

  • "A luxurious 15th-century townhouse hotel stuffed with antiques, that's romantic, serene and comes complete with a chic little spa."

Ask for a canal-side suite as the third-floor rooms under the eaves, though romantic, are less spacious.
