Detailed Review

Ideally located in Shanghai’s downtown, a short distance from the prestigious shopping, entertainment and business areas of Nanjing and Huaihai roads, Four Seasons offers an exemplary environment for business and leisure, with service that is unequalled.

The 37-storey Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai is a tranquil sanctuary in the heart of the bustling metropolis, with 439 guest rooms and suites. The Executive Club Lounge on the 37th floor offers an exclusive haven for the businessman on the go.

Offering discreet, personalised service in a casual yet professional atmosphere, the spa is a tranquil retreat, away from the activity of this busy city. Located on the fourth floor, the spa includes separate men's and women's saunas, steam rooms, hot whirlpools and a hair salon. The hotel is wonderful for younger guests and can arrange weddings, conferences and even a personal trainer if needed.

Press Quotes

"Centrally located, super comfortable, and with the best dim sum in town. Plus concierges that will do anything from finding suitcase locks to recommending tailors and secret shopping spots." The Times 05

"It’s the powerhouse place to stay. The lobby is on the 54th floor of this epic building." Tatler

Independent Reviews

    Four Seasons Shanghai
    By Caroline Major

‘Four Seasons Shanghai’ is sparse and soft at the same time with its slightly off Chinese interpretation of a contemporary five star hotel. Public areas share proportions with sparsely furnished airport lounges, but friendly, attentive staff add uncharacteristic warmth. Ultimately though, the warm, soft buttery tones of the decor fail to add up to a comfortable lobby and lounge environment.

Upstairs, past the restaurant outlets and to the edge of the mezzanine level overlooking the lobby, a Sahara sized expanse of desert carpets dwarf people waiting for their dinner companions. Deep inside the hallways though the ‘Four Seasons’ cosiness appears, so by the time you reach your room you’ll feel comfortable in a quality business hotel. The beds are spectacularly restful sporting the best bed-linen in Shanghai. The pillow menu completes sleep preparation, and housekeeping is the sort to wish for at home; all the clothes folded up, knick knacks sorted and buttons replaced.

There’s a gym with a street view and a spa for post meeting wind downs.

  • "This Four Seasons sibling sits in downtown Shanghai and benefits from impeccable service, plentiful amenties and great dim sum."

However, Four Seasons Shanghai suffers the attentions of hands-on Chinese owners who would be better served to ease control and let Four Seasons run the property.
