17th-century Louis XIII
The Hotel de la Bretonnerie is well positioned on a quiet, cobbled street in the Marais district, steps away from the Place des Vosges, the Picasso Museum, the iconic Pompidou centre and within easy walking distance of Notre Dame. It is also ideally situated near the shops and cafes of the Rue Vieille du Temple with a good choice of cheap places to eat in the evening with a great Parisian atmosphere.
The Hotel de la Brettonnerie is a friendly hotel offering excellent value for money. The metro station is within 2 short blocks of the hotel, which is a great advantage and saves on shoe-leather and taxi fares. This quaint boutique hotel features antique four-poster canopy beds, exposed beams and luxury marble bathrooms.
The Hotel de la Bretonnerie is on 5 levels serviced by a tiny elevator. The rooms are quite small, but nicely decorated with typical French toile fabrics in rich colours. The bathrooms are spacious and newly renovated with twin sinks and a bidet. The showers are hand-held affairs located above the bath, which is perhaps not the easiest arrangement. The huge French windows, with typical wrought iron railings, look down on the street below with its buzz of local activity.
Hotel facilities include internet in the lobby, but as with many boutique hotels in Paris, there are no fitness or restaurant facilities. However, the price of the hotel reflects these shortcomings and is extremely reasonable for such a charming, central location.
