The reception area is enough to make you want to see more. The reception desk is the old shop counter surrounded by listed glass paintings dating back over a hundred years. This historic centrepiece is surrounded by a riotous collage that is typically Lacroix. Even the façade and original signs dating back to 1900 have been retained and blended in.
Lacroix certainly did not hold his colourful spirit in check when he went to work on decorating the 17 bedrooms! They are a stylish collection of mirrors and modern artwork, with the most pleasing colour schemes of forest green with brown, or hot orange and coral with a black and white bathroom. Hot pink Marimekko fabrics are set off by funky wood-effect flooring and lithographs from the fashion world. LCD TVs, minibar and WiFi access are all standard. Other services the hotel offers include luggage storage, limousine service, international newspapers and free private parking.
As with many boutique hotels in Paris, there is no restaurant, but the Hotel du Petit Moulin does still deserve its 4 stars. A delicious French breakfast is provided each morning for an additional charge and the intimate bar area is for guests only, to meet and mingle.
