This frightfully trendy high concept design hotel is run by young men who might just as well be moonlighting for the Mob. Their black attire contrasts nicely with the overwhelming white of the hotel - though splashes of colour and excellent lighting are used to clever effect throughout. The whiter-than-white décor is relieved, for example, by pink chairs, colour-lit alcoves, and a painting above each bed, while the dark corridors are lit only by purple light - a neat contrast with the white beyond.
Despite the high design, the emphasis is very much on comfort - the 51 rooms have thick white carpets, impenetrable silk drapes, and an overall cocooning effect. The bathrooms are done in slate and pebble, and each has a separate shower, with Ann Semonin products. Downstairs there's a buzzing restaurant. Overall, this is a package that works, despite its pretensions, though the location to the north of the Marais is not central.
