This is certainly one of the best luxury hotels in Athens and with just 112 rooms it retains a personal atmosphere and service which larger hotels lack. It is housed in a former annex of what was the main Palace in former days and King George II certainly stayed at the hotel as a guest. The Royal Suite is still available, complete with private swimming pool and unsurpassed views from the private terrace. The décor in the more modest guestrooms is mainly white and gold, lending an opulent air to this historic building. With hand-made furniture, silk fabrics and satin-fringed window dressings, the comfort level is high. The marble bathrooms have recessed lighting, deep bathtubs and separate shower enclosures. With air conditioning, WiFi internet access and adjustable lighting, every small detail is taken care of.
Space is at a premium in this old building and rooms are not the most spacious but they make up for their lack of space with exceptional amenities. From the international call-back service when making a personal booking to the fabulous Spa, this luxury hotel goes that extra mile to give splendid service.
Although the King George II Palace is not one of the cheapest hotels in Athens it does represent excellent value for money as its convenient location can save on endless taxi fares.
