1864 The Sea Captain's House, in Greek 'Kapetanospito', was built by the Sigouras Sarris family after the Greek War of Independence from the Turkish rule. This is one of only eight homes directly on the Oia caldera that are officially designated by the Greek Ministry of Culture as examples of traditional architecture and protected for conservation.

Overlooking the sea and Santorini's volcano caldera, the hotel is on the peak of the island's cliff 1,000 meters above the Aegean sea.
