Designer contemporary
Set on the banks of the River Arno and just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, the Continentale hotel is perfectly positioned for all the sights of Florence.
One of four exclusive luxury hotels in Florence owned by the designer Salvatore Ferragamo and his family, the Continentale hotel offers impeccable standards and discreet personal service. As practical and contemporary as his fashion designs, the Continentale is a modern hotel with the same simple, understated taste. The glass frontage leading into the simple lobby is topped by a huge clock-face which makes an interesting feature amongst the more traditional Florentine architecture.
A perfect retreat for those looking for a romantic break, this delightful boutique hotel will not disappoint. Even the lobby and lounge areas exude a relaxed atmosphere of quality and good taste. Interesting art adorns the walls with a flavour of Italian inspiration which is evident throughout this modern hotel.
Guest rooms, from the cheapest up, are spacious and beautifully furnished with great attention to detail. King-size beds and luxury furnishings are set out over two levels in some of the guestrooms, creating separate dressing areas which are practical and visually pleasing. Bathrooms are unfussy, with a modern twist in the fittings. Balconies have views over the River Arno, which reflect the city lights after dark.
Beyond the well-equipped bedrooms the hotel has elevators, 24-hour room service, laundry and an excellent concierge who will happily advise and make all the arrangements to complete the perfect stay. The modern breakfast room must be experienced, with its quirky black and white seating and subtle coloured lighting effects. Like most hotels in Florence, the Continentale does not have a fitness room or a restaurant, but there are many excellent restaurants nearby.
