Detailed Review

Each of the 401 spacious guest rooms and suites at the Hotel Principe di Savoia is decorated and furnished to reflect the warm and elegant atmosphere of 19th-century Lombard interior design combined with the unobtrusive integration of modern technology. Wainscote wood panelling frames wall-coverings of precious damask and the furniture is inspired by the creations of the celebrated Maggiolini, so each room conveys a note of elegance and refinement. The bathrooms are spacious with marble tiling in soft colours and provide soft bathrobes and a telephone outlet.

The rooms are perfectly soundproof and feature wireless high-speed Internet access, air-conditioning and thermostatic heating control, a refrigerator bar and a direct dial telephone. All our bedrooms have large opening windows allowing fresh air to circulate. Occupying ten floors there are 269 rooms and 132 suites to choose from.

In January 2006 the 48 new Deluxe Mosaic Rooms, all overlooking Piazza della Repubblica, were opened to the public.

Independent Reviews

    Hotel Principe di Savoia
    By The TI Review Team

Arguably Milan’s most famous hotel, the Hotel Principe di Savoia attracts an exclusive clientele. Madonna, Eva Peron and Josephine Baker are all former guests and the hotel boasts one of the largest presidential suites in Europe (over 500m2) with a separate room for bodyguards and its own private swimming pool.

The location is also hard to beat – midway between the train station and Castello Sforzesco on the edge of the Piazza della Repubblica. As you might expect, the atmosphere is extremely refined. Chauffeurs, security agents, concierges and uniformed clerks buzz around the grand foyer and the magnificent stained glass cupola above the bar admits multi-coloured shafts of sunlight.

Rooms are decorated in the traditional Lombardy style, with inlaid wooden panels and Italian marble bathrooms (generously stocked with Acqua di Parma products). All rooms have specially designed flat screen televisions and wi-fi is available throughout the hotel. The hotel is equipped with 17 conference rooms, and can host up to 1,000 guests for major functions. The Galleria restaurant, with tables spilling out onto a private garden, is currently under renovation and due to re-open around Christmas 2005. On the 10th floor you’ll find Club 10, an enormous spa and fitness centre, open to both guests and visitors. It offers a full range of well-being treatments and an infinity pool, plus an unusual “solarium” – a terrace running round the fitness centre – where guests can eat, read or just soak up the sun while admiring the panoramic views over Milan.
