Trendy minimalist design
The unique Hotel Straf is enviably located in the very heart of Milan. Rooms overlook the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is close by, two of the most visited attractions in Milan. A little further on is the Palazzo Manino and the couture houses and chic fashion shopping of Montenapoleone. This luxury hotel is well located for good restaurants, shopping and the financial and business districts of Milan.
This funky designer hotel is created purely for those who love the unconventional. The 64 rooms and suites boasts high-tech functionality amidst a minimalist concept luxury hotel, which manages to make stacked chairs and scratched mirrors feel interesting yet strangely intimate. The Hotel Straf is certainly like nowhere else. Its inimitable designs by haute couture fashion designer Vincenzo De Cotiis seem almost to shock, they are so outrageously avant-garde.
Funkily designed rooms are fitted out with rough quarried slate, burnished brass, gauze-effect glass and even concrete. Walls are painted in blocks of colour, from bright red and green to matte black. While 7 rooms of this boutique hotel are ‘Relax rooms’ complete with massage chair, the 5 rooms with a well-being corner are perhaps the most fun. Along with a massaging armchair they provide aromatherapy and chromotherapy treatments. More orthodox amenities include an LCD TV, high speed internet, large personal safe and air conditioning.
The quirky, ultra-modern designs continue into the Straf Bar and the restaurant, which strangely has no windows. Both serve food and drinks from American breakfast to lounge lunches and the bar is open for happy hour drinks until 9pm. The hotel also has a well-being spa and a fitness room.
Definitely a boutique hotel for the hip and trendy, the Hotel Straf will be a memorable, much talked-about experience. With famous guests including John Malkovich and politician Cicciolini in the guest book, it has great appeal to those who appreciate high design.
