The rooms

The 38 guest rooms of the design hotel are sky blue, contemporary and spacious, and come with immaculate modern bathrooms and all the usual amenities. Paintings by young Milanese artists are on rotating display throughout the design hotel, making each room truly unique. While the rooms are distinctively artistic, the rooms maintain a homey feel with personal touches from the staff, which can include a collection of short stories on the turned-downed beds, perfect for winding down.

Enviably located in the very heart of Milan, the Hotel Spadari al Duomo, as its name suggests, is right next to the beautiful Duomo Cathedral. It is just a stone’s throw from the many sights of Milan including the Palazzo Reale Museum, the Santa Maria Presso San Satiro and the Teatro Alla Scala. There are many other fine palazzi, museums and galleries surrounding this luxury hotel. The couture houses and shops of the Montenapoleone district are easily reached on foot or by metro.

Art and sculptures will surprise and delight at every turn – the trademark of this discreet boutique hotel in Milan’s historic centre. Created in 1991 by Urbano Pierini, the Hotel Spadari al Duomo was one of the first design and art hotels in Milan. Lighting by Giuseppe Mestrangelo and  furniture and the sculptured fireplace wall were all created by Ugo La Pietra and Gio Pomodoro, creating a unique hotel interior which must be admired as you pass. Soft turquoise leather chairs contrast with acid yellow artwork and John Wayne collages to make an eclectic mix of colour in this surprisingly quirky boutique hotel.

Rooms throughout the hotel are decorated in a palette of bright colours with original artwork features. Each delightfully individual room has independent heating and air conditioning controls, a minibar with complimentary mineral water, desk and seating, flat screen TV and all the other amenities you would expect of a luxury hotel. There is high speed internet access, 24-hour concierge and parking nearby.

Full breakfast is available along with a snack bar which serves hot snacks and drinks throughout the day and evening. Although the hotel lacks a spa, gym and restaurant, it is just the place to stay for those who love contemporary art and appreciate fine hand-made furniture.
