Art Deco
Perfectly situated in the heart of Rome, the Hotel Locarno is just a stone’s throw from the Piazza del Popolo.
This charming boutique Rome hotel epitomizes the Art Deco movement of the 1920s. The Hotel Locarno is famous as the setting of the Bernard Wever Movie ‘Hotel Locarno’ and the interior remains a time capsule retaining all the elegance of that period. The wrought-iron birdcage lift is a case in point, along with the classic tiffany lamps and the slow ticking of the grandfather clock in the lobby. Voted the ‘Best 3-star Hotel in Rome’ by Hip Hotels, the hotel offers intimacy and style often lacking in larger luxury hotels. Opened in 1925 the original owners advertised the hotel with posters by the famous cartoonist Anselmo Ballester. Famous film directors and celebrities from the film and acting world still gather at the bar each evening to enjoy one of the bar-tender’s excellent creations.
The 66 rooms are spread over two locations, with brighter, more modern décor in the new Anahi annex across the street. This building was completely refurbished but retained the original doors, floors and bathroom fixtures which add to its character, making this one of the most sought after luxury hotels in Rome. The two sites are linked by a charming Italian courtyard garden filled with potted plants and climbing wisteria. Live jazz concerts are performed here during the summer. Each of the bedrooms in this boutique hotel is very individual in style, size and furnishing. Air conditioning, free WiFi, Sky TV and a safe are all included in each room.
Guests enjoy the breathtaking views over the city of Rome from the rooftop garden whilst sipping an evening cocktail. The Dome of St Peter’s Basilica can be seen, along with views of the Trinita de’ Monti. Bicycles are kindly loaned to guests who wish to explore more of this ancient city.
