Detailed Review
In the monumental setting of the Rome of the Popes, in a 16th - century building in the shadow of St.Peter's Basilica, the Hotel S.Anna offers gracious hospitality in the best hotel tradition.

"Delightful small priest-hole hotel near to St Peters"
TI’s top choice for good value in Rome. The Sant’Anna is rather more B&B than hotel but its location in the shadow of St Peter’s, its charmingly frescoed, immaculate rooms and its small, pretty garden give it an edge.
Hotel Sant Anna
By Jamie Dunford Wood
If you’re looking for a quiet and characterful pensione-style Roman hotel in a great location you can do worse than the Sant Anna. Right in the heart of the now fashionable Borgo, just outside the old Vatican walls in the shadow of St. Peter’s, this small hotel has just 20 rooms and is much favoured by priests, and what makes it interesting are the frescoes which decorate half of them. The ground floor reception and frescoed breakfast cellar are vaulted while the rooms are simply but brightly decorated, with cream loose covers on sofas and armchairs. The elevator’s tiny, so don’t expect to take luggage in it (priests travel light, but for the likes of you and me there’s a bellboy). Outside there’s a delightful garden terrace with a small fountain. Four rooms have balconies, three of them frescoed - try asking for one of these. Perfect for getting into St Peter’s or the Sistine Chapel before the hordes.

The Hotel Sant?Ana exceeded our expectations and
The rooms were clean. tidy andspacious. The bathrooms were wellappointed. Greatbreakfasts. Veryfriendly. helpful and knowledgeablestaff.
Two comments regarding matters whichwould have rounded off a great experience:
It would have been nice to have been able to get a hot drink in the evenings. Neither tea-making facilities in the room norwere the reception staff able to assist.
A restaurant within the hotel offeringan evening meal. Having said this there are plenty of good familyrestaurants within easy walking distance along Borgo Pio and two ice cream shops for pudding!!.
