Detailed Review
The Hotel Restaurant La Collegiata stands on a hill with splendid views of the towers of San Gimignano surrounded by a park of cypress trees. The building was erected in 1587 in Strada near the parish of San Michele as a convent for the order of the Franciscan Cappuccini fathers at the request of the inhabitants of San Gimignano.
The renaissance building reflects the elegance and restraint of the Tuscan style in pietra serena, typical of the region, and red brick. It has been restored in keeping with the history of the locality, while satisfying modern standards of comfort and elegance.
In the lovely area that was once the convent's church, today there is a restaurant seating a hundred people. Small banquets can be held in private rooms with fireplaces. In warm months one can also lunch or dine outdoors: under the portico, in the pagoda or by the pool, in an area surrounded by garden greenery.
La Collegiata completes its hospitality by offering a relaxing and exclusive setting for a host of treatments selected for the health of body and mind: shiatsu, aromatherapy, various types of massage, beauty treatments and best of all, the 'floating chamber,' which ensures relaxation equal to 6 to 8 hours of sleep and is a cure for various ailments.
