"Hip, minimalist and fashion-forward, this chic design hotel is a trendster hang-out, located as it is in affluent Polanco."
Hotel Habita
By Josie van der Schaaf
Habita is located in Polanco, a swanky residential neighbourhood full of designer shopping, ten minutes away by car from The Zocalo and Plaza de la Constitucion. It can be a relief to go back to the quieter street of Presidente Masaryk and relax by the pool on the roof terrace. The rooftop is divided over two levels; the pool with loungers and a wet bar, and a larger floor with a full bar, fireplace for cool evenings and tables and sofas. The wooden floor is well highlighted by smart white walls and glass railings. Its funky, especially at night when they project films or lights on one of the nearby buildings. Their sister Hotel Deseo in Playa de Carmen also features this gimmick. The Junior Suites are light and spacious and bathrooms have huge bathtubs. Grey carpets, white walls and light coloured wood cupboards give the rooms an airy if minimalist feel. The entrance leads you straight into the bar /restaurant with the reception in the back. During day time the place is not particularly special, but at night it comes alive as one of the citys hippest hang-outs. And like hip hang-outs everywhere the world over, service can be slapdash and offhand. For the moment the cool young crowd seem forgiving.
