Stylish Moroccan riad
The delightful Riad 72 is in the heart of the medina of Marrakech near the Bab Doukkala Mosque and within easy walking distance of most of the sights. The Jemaa El Fna is the huge square where many stalls and entertainers ply their trade. Snake charmers, carpet-makers, musicians and vendors all make this a typical noisy Moroccan marketplace. Rooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished and look out over the garden. Local ornaments, colourful tiles and crisp bedlinen add to the comforts of this boutique hotel. The main suite is truly huge with a square bath in the bathroom which is decorated with tadelakt, which is similar to marble. Other rooms have their own individual style and charm and one leads directly out onto the roof terrace.
Guests can enjoy unrivalled panoramic views of the city from the terrace, which has one of the highest solariums of any riad hotel in Marrakech. Although there is no TV, there is a music centre for guests and a library with a range of interesting books about local art and handicrafts. Enjoy home-made local cuisine freshly prepared by Fatouma, the in-house cook. Other staff will offer eastern exfoliating treatments in the hammam or enjoy a massage from the local experts.
