The riads were re-fashioned into the superb luxury hotel it is today by a retired award-winning British hotelier who clearly knew what European visitors are looking for in a boutique hotel.
The Riad Farnatchi brings a touch of first-world luxury into the historic world of riad hotels in Marrakech. The nine luxurious suites with exquisitely decorated interiors each have their own particular design features including hand-made beds, some with canopies, Moroccan lantern-style lighting and colourful local rugs. All suites have their own comfortable sitting areas. The extras are the Bose iPod docking stations, central heating, satellite TVs with on-demand movies, air conditioning, direct dial phones and even WiFi internet connections. This puts the Riad Farnatchi in a totally different class to most other boutique hotels in Marrakech.
The hotel has a swimming pool and ample outdoor sitting areas in the open loggias around the courtyard garden. There is a hammam or steam room open to guests from 4pm to 7pm. Room rates include breakfast, complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day, home-made canapés before dinner and ample fruit, pastries and mineral water. The Riad Farnatchi also provides complimentary transport to and from the airport. Moroccan slippers and loose djelabas are also given to guests to wear around the hotel and take home as souvenirs of their stay.
