Detailed Review
Escape the Marrakech madness at Riad Mehdi, a luxury riad and spa and frankly the sybaritic alternative to Morocco’s hectic main square and winding souks. Fit for a hedonist who fancies traditional Moroccan architecture, textiles, and cuisine, this luxury riad exudes with unique style and comfort.
The facilities
The cushion-filled tadelakt lounge at Riad Mehdi comprises a spacious sitting area which leads onto an atrium cum balcony overlooking the central courtyard. The courtyard’s focal point is the centrally placed pool, elegantly tiled in a Morrocan pattern. A sumptuous breakfast includes a variety of different breads and spreads, while Moroccan lunch and dinner menus serve specialty salads and tagines. A bar is also onsite for cocktails and beer.
The real bonus of choosing this luxury riad is that half of its property is devoted to a reputable spa facility: Les Bains des Marrakech. Fragrant concoctions of lotions, oils and algae accompany an indulgence in the traditional Moroccan hammam at any time of the day. Also, a whole range of modern massage, shiatsu, body wraps and baths are available.
The rooms
Riad Mehdi is comprised of nine guest rooms, four of which are stylish suites overlooking the striking pool and facing the city ramparts. The four suites boast canopied beds, terraces and sunken baths. All rooms have air conditioning and a CD player/radio. The bathroom has big fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers, with ample shampoo and soaps.
