Detailed Review
Located in the historic centre of the medina, next to the Kouba, this magnificent, luminous, spacious ryad was recently renovated for a traditional feel in a simple, sober, contemporary setting.
The residence is decorated in subtle, refined colours and materials for a serene, relaxing atmosphere.
In a magnificent courtyard of orange and palm trees, an aromatic garden surrounds the fountain.
Broad terraces offer a 360° view of the medina and its menzeh (high tower) overlooking the museum of Marrakech, the Ben Youssef Medersa and the souks, with the Atlas mountains in the backdrop.
All these features combine to make this an outstanding place.

"A stroll from the medina, contemporary style lines meet traditional architecture in this riad of neutral colours and clean lines."
Minimal designs give this riad a deceptive air of simplicity - actually, it's beatifully realised and it's hard to think what you would add to make your stay more luxurious.
Talaa 12
By Joanna Monkhouse
Tranquil, central and exceptionally spacious, Talaa 12 is a riad elegantly renovated in a refreshingly contemporary style of clean lines, calming colours and modern interpretations, respectful of the traditional Moroccan architecture. Each of the seven uncluttered rooms is unique in décor yet all instil a sense of serenity with their simple drapes, square sofas, thoughtful lighting and a stylish blend of ancient and modern that complements the vast proportions of the building. The high ceilings and thick walls keep the spaces cool though all have a/c. There are plenty of salons at intervals throughout the house in which to chill out: on landings, off the open courtyard, on the expansive roof terrace. Four oranges trees grace the corners of the patio, surrounding a low stone fountain filled with floating rose petals. Talaa 12 has no pool though guests can visit one in the palmeraie for the day. Dining is on request and the riad abounds with inviting places to eat on the terrace, in the courtyard or in the dining room decorated in warm colours and more of the modern art displayed elsewhere in the riad. A traditional hammam is available for guests and massages can be arranged on site. A riad well suited to those looking for a modern take on Moroccan style, especially those who find the maze of Marrakech bewildering. Talaa 12 is easily accessible, just steps from the souks and next to the Musee de Marrakech, conveniently signed from all areas of the medina.
