This luxury 18th century house is right at the core of Madrid, next to such notable monuments as the Teatro Real and the Palacio de Oriente, where visitors will get a taste of what it’s like to live like Royalty â the Casa de Madrid. This 18th century town house is simply full of aristocratic atmosphere and decorated in the finest, most beautiful pieces possible â murals, frescos, busts, chaise lounges, Indian motifs, etc. You name it, the Casa de Madrid has it, somewhere. This hotel is a luxury hideaway in the heart of Madrid that is ideal for couples or families who want a one off holiday in complete decadence.

"An elegant, eclectic and characterful boutique hotel, housed in a former palace and well-placed near the Palacio de Oriente."
It’s hard to find, a little gloomy and the painting of John the Baptist at reception gave us pause, but we still fell for the charms of this eclectic little seven-room bolthole in a landmark 18th-century Spanish building.
Casa de Madrid
By Josie van der Schaaf
Near the Opera and Plaza de Isabel II, the Casa de Madrid is in a great location. From the outside it is hard to recognise as a hotel and its easy to walk by without noticing it. Marta Medina converted her 1st floor apartment into something very special. With only seven rooms it might be one of the smaller hotels in Madrid but does not lack the feeling of grandeur. Marta travelled all over the world and brought back many beautiful objets to create a sophisticated, eclectic, elegant atmosphere.
She has created a hotel that is warm, inviting and very intimate. All rooms are different in size and decoration. Two of the rooms can be joined by closing a door and adding a living area to the rooms, and would be ideal for a family. Otherwise there are two Suites with high ceilings, beautiful beds, drapes and paintings. Some of the rooms have their own small kitchen and there is a washing machine guests can use. Some of the walls are painted and give the illusion that decoration and walls are flowing over into each other.
If you want to visit Madrid and stay somewhere unique this would suit. It is different and inspiring, a real treat.
