This beautifully preserved boutique hotel in Stockholm’s Old Town is a tourist attraction in its own right. The owner and founder of the Victory Hotel, Gunnar Bengtsson, has created a wonderfully authentic place to stay for those who appreciate maritime history set in a beautiful historic building. His fine collection of marine antiques are displayed throughout this luxury hotel.
This luxury hotel offers 45 charming guest rooms and eight well-appointed apartments, each with antique-style furnishings, sea scape pictures and model ships. The Victory’s apartments are mainly studios and one-bedroom suites although the penthouse apartments are larger with amazing views over the rooftops of the Old Town. The 18th century rooms are tastefully furnished in a style appropriate to a captain’s quarters. Comfortable beds, a desk and minibar are complemented by a trouser press, flat screen TV, Bang and Olufsen stereo and WiFi internet access. Underfloor heating ensures cozy winter warmth whilst air conditioning is also available. This luxury hotel has a sauna and relaxation area which guests can book through reception. The library is in keeping with the historic ambience with large leather reading chairs and shelves of classic books.
The Victory Hotel is very food orientated. Breakfast is a delicious buffet of Swedish delicacies and international cold cuts and is included in the room price. The hotel also has its own Michelin star restaurant, Leijontornet, which serves creative cuisine based on traditional Swedish favourites. The Bistro Djuret is also part of the hotel. Choosing a wine is a unique experience. If you wish, the sommeliers will take you down to the well-stocked wine cellars before dinner to choose your own bottle from the extensive collection.
