The Regent Bangkok is a business hotel in the centre of Siam, the business and shopping district in downtown Bangkok. It is every inch a Four Seasons, and comes complete with the quintessential Four Seasons American guest: seeking the comforts of home. The building itself is imposing enough, but where it backs onto a very Thai style courtyard, decked in teak, potted orchids grow so healthily you forget you’re in the centre of Bangkok. Big, beautiful Thai-style parasols make little oasis in the orchids, pool recliners and lotus ponds, creating a tranquil space amongst the skyscrapers. It’s no wonder that the well sized pool is filled with early morning lap swimmers already feeling the Bangkok buzz.
Make sure you book yourself into a cabana room, set around a large lotus pond overlooking the pool. The cabanas are generously sized, with a walk in robe and dressing room, entry hall and outdoor terrace. From here, you can walk barefoot down to the swimming pool, or straight to the spa and fitness centre. These cabanas are a well positioned little sanctuary in the midst of bustling Siam, and can turn a stay in a business hotel into a relaxing city-break. If you can’t get enough of the working day at least you can connect your laptop by the pool with free wireless internet in the common areas.
