Detailed Review
Just a few minutes walk from the West End of Edinburgh and its famous sites, on a peaceful, leafy street, lies this four star boutique hotel. Whilst many of the original Victorian features have been maintained, the interior of the Bonham has been designed to create a contemporary feel of the highest quality. Each room has been elegantly and dramatically created with contemporary furniture and modern art, using rich, bold colours to produce a tasteful oversized abundance throughout. The Bonham promises to offer a traditional feel with a modern twist, coupled with impeccable standards and individuality.
The Restaurant at The Bonham provides relaxing and ambient surroundings in which excellent food and drink can be enjoyed. Since the arrival of Head Chef, Michel Bouyer in early February, the contemporary oak-panelled restaurant has become famed for its creative yet simple European-influenced dishes.
The Bonham has been designed to meet today's needs, with forty-eight spacious and themed en-suite bedrooms, many with breath-taking views of Edinburgh and the quaint Dean Village, to the Firth of Forth. The Bonham has something to offer everyone, from relaxing weekends and high intensity business stays to luxurious breaks covering shopping expeditions, sight-seeing and theatre packages.

Hotel Bonham
By Jamie Dunford WoodForty-eight-room design hotel which calls itself ’the coolest hotel in edinburgh’ - with some justification. The mulberry, black and green colourways against bleached wood won’t be to everyone’s taste, especially in the designer look of the reception area and restaurant, popular with the local business fraternity - the effect in the rooms is of thick-carpeted comfort, more classic solidity than designer cool. Furniture is individually designed, well made and modern; colours are vibrant but rich - rust, blue or purple carpeting - with crushed velvet fabrics and swagged drapes. Beds are high, large and deep. And though the rooms themselves are not large, the tall georgian ceilings and windows make them feel airy. Ten deluxe rooms have separate showers - otherwise the bathrooms are small.

"Like a ten-roomed version of a Malmaison: cool, contemporary, moody"
Some rooms are small; book a superior or a suite to get the best of the Bonham.
The Bonham
By Matthew Barker
Exemplary model of the contemporary boutique style playing peek-a-boo behind a four-storey town house of leafy Victoriana: all trim, bold-toned coziness. 48 rooms. Facilities:The restaurant has landed some very good notices, with chef Pelham Hill gaining a bit of a reputation (signature dish: white chocolate and amaretto crème brulee with macaroons). Molton Brown in the bathrooms, no room for a gym/fitness centre. Local Attractions:Adorable old city: no missing the Castle or National Gallery; for food be sure to bribe a table at the Atrium or Martins (or indeed the Bonham). Great place for shopping: Corniche for the label-conscious; Thistle Street markets and second-hand shops for the price conscious; Wacky Enterprises for the semi-conscious. Some parts can be very New-Agey (cant imagine buying sea salt floats in Glasgow somehow).
