Country designer chic in a Victorian townhouse
Number Sixteen is a stylish boutique hotel in London, tucked away from the mainstream babble but close to many amenities. The local corner shop is Harrods; the Victoria and Albert Museum nearby provides hours of fascination and Hyde Park is great for walking, rowing, tennis and more.
Kensington Palace and Gardens are near neighbours, and Brompton Cross is ideal for shopping, coffee shops and boutiques. Kensington is a great up-market location with easy access by underground Tube into the city.
Number Sixteen is another boutique hotel designed and owned by Tim and Kit Kemp. Kit’s talent for interior decoration and furnishing luxury hotels is renowned throughout the business. Behind the imposing front door Number Sixteen offers concierge and valet services, 24-hour room service, high speed internet access and a tranquil English garden to make guests feel totally relaxed.
If you have simply come to nosy around and pick up a few design tricks, you will not be disappointed. Kit Kemp’s impeccable style and taste show in every colour scheme and every hand-picked item of furniture. Antiques stand happily beneath the flat-screen LCD TV, and the antique writing desk sits waiting for a 21st century laptop. There is plenty of space for everyone and public drawing rooms are available for quiet reading, although there is no fitness room or bar. Beautiful artwork has you pausing in the lobby en route to your room. The flower-filled drawing rooms lead out to the conservatory, another oasis of calm.
Number Sixteen is everything a boutique hotel in London should be - comfortable, welcoming and interesting to view. No wonder the Kemp’s were awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade on two occasions and the Crown Estate’s Urban Business award
