Detailed Review
For those who favor old-world extravagance, and are looking for the grandest luxury hotel in San Francisco, the Ritz-Carlton is the place to stay. Its landmark 19th-century building resides on the eastern slope of Nob Hill, convenient to Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square, and the financial district via cable car (which literally stops at its door). After a $12.5 million renovation, expect palatial- Georgian antiques, museum-quality paintings and crystal chandeliers are just a few accoutrements worth noting.
The facilities
The luxury Ritz-Carlton San Francisco has two restaurants and three bars. The renowned Dining Room restaurant has a seasonal menu with modern French cuisine. The Lobby Lounge provides the perfect spot for afternoon tea while musing over the beautifully landscaped terrace courtyard. The Spa-De-Vie offers a full therapeutic menu including massages, facials, body treatments, manicure and pedicures. There is also a jacuzzi, steam room, indoor pool and fitness center.
The rooms
This luxury hotel has 336 guestrooms, including 60 suites feature wireless internet access, LCD flat-panel TVs and in-room laptop safes. The swankiest of rooms come with more top-notch amenities like iPod docking stations, TVs in bathrooms and Bang & Olufsen 14 speaker surround-sound systems. All rooms have featherbeds with 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton Frette sheets and down comforters. From their rooms, guests can look out onto views of the city, San Francisco Bay or the luxury hotel's landscaped courtyard.
